Suddenly the thing was angry. The thing took his head in its hands and twisted. The last sound he heard was the crack of his vertebrae separating. He couldn’t help but think of what could have been done differently, as he tumbled, end over end, down further and further into the deepest darkest abyss, into what could only be a sleep from which he would never wake, an eternal dream.
